Gardner-Webb Adds Harlyn Wyatt To Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff – Gardner Webb University Bulldogs

BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb women’s basketball announced an addition to its coaching staff, with former Tulane captain Harlyn Wyatt joining the Runnin’ Bulldog family.

Wyatt, who will serve as an assistant coach, comes to the Gardner-Webb program after spending last season as a graduate assistant at the University of Nevada in Reno, Nev.

“I’m excited to be adding Harlyn to our staff,” said head coach Alex Simmons. “She is a breath of fresh air and has already made her presence felt in our program. She brings new ideas and perspectives to our program and will be a huge asset on the floor with our post play and development.”

Wyatt was a standout post player at Tulane, where she graduated in 2019. She was a four-year letterwinner with the Green Wave, finishing her career with 134 games played, 110 blocked shots and nearly 700 points to go with 600 rebounds.

During her time on the court, Tulane made back-to-back WNIT appearances. The Green Wave won 23 games during her freshman season and made it all the way to the WNIT Sweet 16. Wyatt started her coaching journey as a participant in the WBCA’s ‘So You Want to Be a Coach’ program and was a speaker during a panel appearance at the WBCA National Convention at the Final Four.

The 2019 Tulane graduate She majored in communications and minored in psychology during her time in New Orleans.

Wyatt is a native of Atlanta, Ga., and starred at Benjamin E. Mays High. She was an All-State and All-Region selection and led her team to the state Class 5A State Finals.

Gardner-Webb opens its 2021-2022 season on the Road November 9 at Vanderbilt.
