Champions League Fantasy Football: Forwards | UEFA Champions League – UEFA.com

With the UEFA Champions League now in full swing, UEFA.com takes a look at some #UCLfantasy forward assets who could make a splash on Matchday 2.

Star of the show on Matchday 1 was undoubtedly Sébastien Haller (€8.5m), whose sensational four-goal haul helped Ajax to a 5-1 win away at Sporting CP. The striker received a massive 21 #UCLfantasy points – the most of any player during the matchday – yet still remains a differential asset as he features in just 5% of squads at present. Ajax face Beşiktaş in Amsterdam on Matchday 2 and all eyes will be on Haller to see if he can have a similar impact, while the same can be said of his team-mate Antony (€7.0m), who registered three assists and linked up superbly with the forward.

It was no surprise to see Robert Lewandowski (€11.5m) amongst the goals on Matchday 1, two goals at the Camp Nou helping the Pole to 13 points after he was also named Player of the Match. At the time of writing the Bayern striker has scored in an astonishing 19 consecutive games for his club across all competitions and his #UCLfantasy owners will be fully expecting him to do what he does best on Matchday 2 against Dynamo Kyiv. As one of the most reliable strikers in world football, going without him in your squad would constitute a significant risk.

Lewandowski isn’t the only premium striker who has already found the net in the competition though, as Erling Haaland (€11.0m), Cristiano Ronaldo (€11.0m) and Romelu Lukaku (€10.5m) all got off on the mark in the opening round of group stage fixtures. Haaland is sure to be heavily captained against a Sporting CP outfit that conceded five on Matchday 1, while Ronaldo faces a side he has scored against 13 times in his career when Villarreal visit Old Trafford. Lukaku, meanwhile, will look to continue his excellent start to the season as Chelsea visit Juventus.

Those seeking a budget option may want to look at Paulinho (€6.0m). Despite Sporting’s heavy opening defeat, the Portuguese striker did collect six #UCLfantasy points after scoring in the first half and had a further effort ruled out for offside. Matchday 2 opponents Dortmund have conceded in their last seven UEFA Champions League games, so Paulinho may get further opportunities to find the net.

Another cheap asset who caught the eye was Karim Adeyemi (€7.0m), who earned three penalties in Salzburg’s 1-1 draw at Sevilla. Despite missing one of them, the German youngster’s efforts earned him the Player of the Match bonus and he heads into the home game against LOSC Lille on nine #UCLfantasy points.
